Lauren, Carson, and Liam Cantin tell us about their trip.

This morning we ate breakfast before say goodbye to the staff of Finca La Anita and loading onto the busses. On our three hour journey we stopped at a grocery store in Liberia to pick up some snacks.
We saw various different areas of the countryside on our journey as well as some windmills and towns.

We got to release approximately 70 baby black turtles that hatched while we were there. What a great experience.

We were able to learn about sea turtles in thanks to Danny, a wild life conservationist. We learned about 4 of the 7 sea turtle species, all 4 of which lay eggs on this beach, and were taught how to identify them based on their beaching flipper patterns.
We also learned about the ways that the different species of turtles lay their eggs and create their nests.

Danny teaching the kids how to identify and extract different turtle nests.

The kids had a competition to identify and remove the eggs.
